Royal OakA medium sized to 30 feet tall evergreen Oak from tropical Mexico. It is semi evergreen in the San Antonio area. Royal Oak's leaves are a glossy green, large and leathery with prominent veins and rippled appearance. Leaves can get to 6 inches long by two inches wide. The tree itself is a broad rounds evergreen with large 1 ¼ inch by 1 inch acorns While this species is a new one in the San Antonio area, it should prove itself to be a good yard tree for the urban environment. Growth on an established tree should be in the 1-2 feet per branch per year range.
