Shade Trees: |
LIVE OAK — Quercus fusiformisAn evergreen oak that can get very broad, about 50 feet high and 75 feet wide. One of our best native trees, widely adaptable and capable of withstanding severe drought once established. This tree produces a smaller acorn which is relished by wildlife and makes a dense canopy and shade. For best results, plant this tree in the fall and water well, continue watering sparingly until growth starts in the spring.Once growth starts water this tree in a regular schedule. Allowing this tree to dry out will cause it to assume a slow growth pattern. |
